The last ten thousand

I thought the last ten thousand words were meant to be the easy downhill slope to the ending? Not a bit of it. I am quarrying words one at a time. I've got plot holes and character holes and motivation holes and I kind of know where I want to be at the end but I don't see how to get there.

So, normal Nano then.

Keep slogging. There's just over a week to go and you're withing reach.

Keep wanting it.

I am not within reach of the NaNo goal, but knowing where the planned ending is is a big step to getting there. Keep slogging along and you'll find it eventually.

I'm ten thousand words behind you and having the exact same problem.
Even being behind I took yesterday off hoping inspiration would come to me in the break. Nada. All I can do is keep typing.

Best of luck to everyone!

The last ten thousand still sounds good to me.

And dinosaurs are great for plugging plot holes.

Bevie, I'm not sure I do any more. That's the problem. Inertia only takes me so far.

ww, thanks. I've got a "can't get there from here" kind of feeling at the moment. I may just leave the plot incoherent, write scenes, and tidy it all up later.

Kate, It's tough coming back from behind. Good luck with finishing!

Whirl, I may yet get that desperate.

But did any of the other characters realise the dinosaur was a robot - before they entered the hidden valley and found a broken rusty one standing still encrusted with vegetation?

Good question, Richard. I decided to go with a washing machine rather than a dinosaur in the end.

You are Cory Doctorow and I claim my five pounds...

Keep slogging! I've got 15,000 to go, so you're way ahead of me.

*crosses fingers*

Here's hoping we all get blessed from the inspiration faery!

I've never done NaNo, but I have a lot of friends who have (and are), and that's what I hear. But in NaNo time, you have ages to figure it out, so all your hard work is sure to pay off.

Bonne chance!

Good luck, mynfel! I'm afraid the inspiration fairy has completely abandoned me.

TSH, thanks!

I've never found the easy bit, the downhill slope that the pep talks refer to.

I have always presumed it was just a ruse to get you through the middle slog.

Sylvia, that's cynical! (But also, I fear, true.)
