Caption Competition

What do you do when you hate the cover art for your published novel? Have a caption competition of course!

Over at Smart Bitches Trashy Books Alyssa Day has consented to a caption competition for her book cover. The prize is an autographed copy of the book to the top five captioners.

As you can guess from the title, Smart Bitches uses robust language. Just so you know.

Thanks to Judge a Book by its Cover for pointing the way.

Regarding the comments about the picture, it is one of those obvious things which escape me completely - until someone points it out. Then it becomes my first thought every time I see it.

But I agree. I don't like the picture either - even before I learned why Alyssa Day hates it. It doesn't make me think of adventure. Looks like something taken from a butcher shop.

Fantasy stories need landscape covers. Show us the world with someone in it, not someone without a world.

I like the idea of fantasy landscapes. That sounds like a much better cover idea.

They closed the comments, but here's my contribution anyway. (Hey, I read through ALL of those & came up with one only to find out commenting was disabled. I've gotta put it somewhere. :p )

"This baby right here makes the Sirens sing."

There. VERY funny stuff btw. SBTB is now bookmarked.

Nice comment, Sophie.

How frustrating to find that comments were closed after you'd read all of them.
