Another day, another meme. This time it's chickens.

This is my 201st post and I have been awarded the prestigious Zombie Chicken award by Aerin and McKoala. What can I say? (That I can put online, I mean.)

Is this because my blog looks like it's composed while I'm running around like a headless chicken? Apparently not.
The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…

I'm never quite sure how to respond to these memes. I'm flattered because hidden in all those words is supposedly an appreciation of content, although I think friendship and shared jokes probably has more to do with it.

I'm also concerned. Do I pass the award on to my best friends online and if do, how will people who don't get the award feel? If I award it to a large blog with a readership in the thousands will I look like an idiot?

I went through my Blogger Reader list and found far too many blogs that deserve it. Not all of them belong to my little circle of friends although some do. Some are humourous, some are factual, some are a way of keeping in touch with friends. How am I meant to choose?

What I've decided to do is to post a list of blogs that I think are outstanding resources for budding authors and particularly writers of science fiction. If you see your blog here and want to accept the award then please do. If you're not on the list, I still love you but for different reasons.

Thank you! Awards are always nice. Especially zombie chickens.

A fairy hedgehog with a zombie chicken? I don't know whether to congratulate you or run.

Thanks for the links — some of these I haven't visited yet.

Writtenwyrd, it's richly deserved. I don't often comment on your writing posts because I don't have anything to add but I do enjoy them.

Whirl, I think running is the safest option!

You just got a couple of other awards, too.

Congrats FHH. Richly deserved too. I will try to make it around to visit these links over the next couple of days. I think that's one of the real values of these awards - how it opens up new paths to people to follow. I love that you've singled out those writers who share their knowledge with others. Fab idea.

I've given myself a couple of weeks off from posting but I have some passing on of my own to do when I get back into it. Singling friends out - that bit will feel strange. It's all about passing good karma on though which is a very good thing.

Awesome. A new set of blogs for me to peruse. Um. I think that's awesome, except I don't have time to read the ones I link to already.

I'm with you on the memes and awards. Nice, but...

Thanks, Janey. I hope people will look at some of those links: they are all ones that I think have exceptional content.

Sarah, I know what you mean. So many blogs, so little time, so many cliches. Or something like that.

Good way to make sense of it all. I too felt the same way when landing a meme, and for the most part felt obliged to reciprocate, not knowing what a meme was. Feel free to check out my first hand experience when confrounted with a meme tag.
